Brewing Up Success: A Cauldron of Tips for LinkedIn

Happy Spooky Season, everyone! As the leaves start to change colors and temperatures drop, we want to help keep your LinkedIn profile as hot as a mug of apple cider this fall. Here are four frightfully good tips to help you navigate the platform, no costume required.

Don’t Let Your Page Mummify

Complete profiles receive 30% more weekly views, and active, visual posts — like videos — see 5x more engagement than non-visual ones. Keep your page up to date and your content fresh to avoid going stale.

Deliver More Treats, Less Tricks

Audiences want authenticity. Lead with insights into your work (and life!) instead of clickbait devoid of valuable content. These treats will make your page more approachable and appealing instead of scaring off your visitors. Vulnerability builds trust, and trust builds influence.

Keep Up with Your Haunts

One of the easiest ways to lose momentum is by ghosting your network. Engage with your connections as often as possible — it’s not just good for the algorithm, it’s good for you. Show up consistently with comments, shares and posts. That “like” could lead to new business or a new connection!

Spell It Out

It’s not magic that makes some posts perform better than others, but it might be length! Longer form content like articles and blogs posted directly on LinkedIn have shown higher engagement than shorter messages linking to external sites. The platform deprioritizes posts with external links, so resist the urge to link out on LinkedIn. (Sorry.)

At the heart of it all, LinkedIn is about connecting with the people on the other side of the screen (“Poltergeist” reference, anyone?). While it is a professional platform, staying true to who you are or what your brand stands for is often more rewarding than always appearing perfect and polished. Stay active, engaged and authentic and the connections will follow.
