Changing Lives Through Prediabetes Awareness
Communities along the U.S.-Mexico border have some of the highest rates of type 2 diabetes. Vanguard worked with ADA to promote the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention’s National DPP in these and other underserved communities in the U.S. We worked with ADA local grantees to bolster their communications expertise through technical assistance, as well as creating a vast array of customizable, low literacy, bilingual materials to raise awareness of type 2 diabetes and how to prevent it. On a national level, we worked to leverage ADA’s many platforms to raise awareness of prediabetes and the organization’s leadership in the National DPP. This included information for consumers, as well as medical professionals. We created blogs, articles, social media assets, web copy, flyers, postcards, as well as videos in both English and Spanish. This information has reached millions of people locally and nationally, changing the lives of 5,000 people in the communities ADA has worked with.
