Putting Behavioral Health and Recovery on the Big Screen

Positive behavioral health storylines are more common on television and in film these days, but it wasn’t always that way. Working with the Substance Abuse and Mental Health Services Administration (SAMHSA) on the Voice Awards program for more than a decade, Vanguard has focused on celebrating the recovery of people with mental and substance use disorders and their very real potential to have a fulfilling life. For the annual awards event that recognizes productions with positive, realistic stories and community leaders, Vanguard handles all aspects of the program, including name and logo development; event planning and management; the nomination and judging process; and media outreach, advertising and promotion. We recruit celebrity co-hosts and special award recipients who have expressed an interest or personal investment in behavioral health, and we connect with partners in both the entertainment industry and the behavioral health field who can contribute their own audiences and resources to ensure an impactful, inspiring event.
