National Prevention Week 2018: What Would You Say to Your Future Self?

It’s not too late to join the conversation about substance use prevention and promotion of mental health and wellness during SAMHSA’s National Prevention Week, this year from May 13 to 19!

Individuals, organizations and communities around the country are hosting activities, events and discussions about what prevention actions we can take today to create healthier futures for ourselves, our families, and our communities. During SAMHSA’s National Prevention Week, we focus on prevention, but every week and every day is an opportunity to take prevention action — at home, at school, at work and in the community.

How can you participate? This year’s NPW Prevention Challenge asks people to share on social media what they would say to their future selves about the choices they are making today for a healthier tomorrow. Post your #DearFutureMe letter, photo or video on Twitter and Instagram and make sure to include the hashtag and #NPW2018. And don’t forget to encourage others to do so as well!  Check out (and share) our promotional video for this year’s challenge.

To keep up with the latest prevention news and information, sign up for SAMHSA’s Prevention Works email newsletter highlighting resources, activities and events by visiting www.samhsa.gov/prevention-week.

Remember – prevention is for everybody, every day. Join us this week to learn more about what actions you can take for a healthier tomorrow!
